February 12 – July 30,  2008 

Feb. 17-29 Great Auto Race Exhibition at Bob Johnson Motors Showroom, 195 West Main Street, Springville, NY.  This exhibition tells the story of the Great Auto Race through original 1908 photographs of the winning Thomas Flyer as it drove the race route.  A photo biography of George Schuster and history of the E. R. Thomas Motor Company may also be seen along with a three-dimensional scene of Camp Hard Luck in Manchuria.

 May – Springville - Griffith Institute Central School high school spring concert will carry the theme of the Great Auto Race with a commissioned musical piece, composed by Liam Bailey, class of _____.  The piece will be choreographed to original photographs of the race.  Concert will be held at the Springville-Griffith Institute High School auditorium, 290 North Buffalo Street, Springville, NY.

 June 1 – July 29 - Great Auto Race Exhibition will be open to the public at Bob Johnson Motors Showroom, 195 West Main Street, Springville, NY.  See and read about the epic journey of the Thomas Flyer as it traveled from New York City to Paris in 1908.

 June 6-8 – Springville Agricultural/Dairy Fest – visit the Great Auto Race booth to learn about Springville’s George Schuster and his epic travels.

 CENTENNIAL RACE WEEKEND

July 24-27, 2008 

Thursday, July 24Community Concert featuring the “Frankfurters” at 7:00 p.m. located at Fiddlers Green Park on North Buffalo Street, Springville, NY.  In case of inclement weather the concert will be at the Town Hall, 86 Franklin Street.

Friday, July 25Great Auto Race Exhibition open to the public at Bob Johnson Motors Showroom, 195 West Main Street, Springville, NY.
 Saturday, July 26A gala celebration with:

     ·        a gun competition at Springville Field and Stream, White Street, Springville, NY,

·       
 a vintage/antique car parade by the Genesee Valley Antique Auto Club,

·        the dedication of a historical marker to George Schuster, 74 North Buffalo Street,

·        the Great Auto Race Exhibition will be open for visitors at Bob Johnson Motors Showroom, 195 West Main Street, Springville, NY

·       
a showing of the film “The Great Race” at the Joylan Theater, 11 West Main Street, Springville, NY

·       
a community BBQ,

·        and featuring a presentation of the Great Auto Race by Schuster’s great-grandson, Jeff Mahl at Springville-Griffith Institute High School, 290 North Buffalo Street, Springville, NY,

·        Followed by “Meet George at Pop’s” located at Pop’s Sports Bar & Grill, 2443 W. Main Street

 Sunday, July 27  - More celebration with:

·        a Vintage auto tour down North Buffalo Street,   

·        a showing of the docudrama “The Greatest Auto Race on Earth”  at the Joylan Theater, 11 West Main Street, Springville, NY,

·        the announcing of the Genesee Valley Antique Auto Club ‘People’s Choice Award.
