FOR OUR FAITHFUL MEMBERS!
CONCORD JOTTINGS
July 2007
As my Father used to say "Fourth of July, Hamburg Fair, Cornstalks and Winter."
And guess what " America's Fair" is fast approaching but Don Paul and
I still call it "Hamburg Fair."
The CHS display should be great this year, (remember we even got
third prize last year!) The Committee consisting of our ever busy Grace, Jeanne
Fornes, Don Orton and many others are preparing a preview of "The Great Race"
which will be taking place in July 2008. Our own George Schuster was the winner
and his family will also be taking part in the celebration. Watch for our
exhibit at the Fair. Incidentally, the Great Race
T-shirts will be on sale shortly and will we ever look sharp!
We entertained the 4th graders in June and what fun!!! One of the boys put on our top hat and danced to the music of the Hawkins' Victrola. He was pretty professional! See the attached letter for more info. The teachers are great too and we always enjoy the children's letters.
Another busy day at the Museum was the Dairy Festival and did we ever have visitors! The Salem Lutheran Ladies and their bag lunches brought everyone right to our front porch. We tried our best to keep things going but it was hard without Grace (everyone was asking where and how she was.) And, oh yes, she's back and busy as usual.
Once the sewer and water lines are in, the work will be in full swing at the Country Store. Artifacts for the store are coming in regularly and we do appreciate everyone's donations and interest.
We entertained the "Red Hat" Ladies from Holland in June and they were delightful guests.
Our schedule for the rest of the year is as follows:
August: Be sure to go to the Fair and see our exhibit!
September 12: Kevin Siepel will give us a personal review of his book about the Niagara Frontier.
Qctober 10: One of our very favorite speakers, Greg Kinal will be coming. His topic is always a good surprise.
November 14: We decorate for Christmas.
December 1: at 9 A.M. is our regular Cookie Sale at the Lucy Bensley Center at 9A.M. Don't forget to BAKE!!!!!
Oh Yes, if you love genealogy and would like to volunteer, give us a call at 592-0094 or 592-2097. Our Supportive Service help is over in July and we need workers!
Enjoy the rest of the Summer!!!!!!
